The Nursing Assistant hybrid program at Metrowest Healthcare Academy is 75 hours in length. This includes 54 hours of lecture/theory and lab/practice and 21 hours of clinical experience at an approved Long-Term Care Facility or Hospital. Through lectures, videos, games, role-playing, and laboratory practice, the students receive a broad range of training that includes; infection control, communication and interpersonal skills, safety and emergency procedures, personal care skills, psycho-social needs, basic restorative services and skills, basic nursing skills, quality improvement and more. Nursing Aides will also be able to assist patients with Activities of Daily Living such as bathing, dressing, positioning, transfer, ambulation, and vital signs, as well as learning how to gather information needed to provide care for people within the health care system.
Upon successful completion of the Nursing Assistant Training, you will obtain a certificate of completion and be eligible to take the Massachusetts State Exam to be certified by the DPH as a CNA.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
To enroll in the 75 hours hybrid (online and in-person) Nursing Assistant program, students must meet the following criteria:
- Must be 16 years of age
- Must have a negative result for PPD (Mantoux test and negative chest x-ray) that is valid until the course completion
- Have a high school diploma or its equivalent or comprehend on a 10th-grade level
- Pass a basic English pre-entrance exam with an 80% score
- Must have a satisfactory Criminal Background check through the CORI system before the 1st day of class
- Must have proof of personal health insurance (requested but not required)
- Provide a valid government-issued picture ID (Passport, ID Card, Driver’s License, etc.)
- Have an American Heart Association CPR/BLS Certificate before the start of clinical rotation. This training is offered on campus by an approved American Heart Association instructor.
- Proof of a current flu shot or provide a valid exemption/declination document
- Proof of Covid vaccination or provide a valid exemption/declination document
